Better weather for the final push !!!

With the left hand side set, the shuttering was moved over in preparation for the right hand side. The concrete arrived and was laid as shown. The slab measures appx. 43' x 17' , and took appx 14cu mtrs of mix.(30+ tons) Most of it was barrowed in, raked, tamped and levelled by myself and Gary, backbreaking work !!! The Legh Arms was much appreciated after each session of this work.!!! Cheers Gaz, I owe you one.!!!

Shuttering for concrete base

Preparation of the shuttering for garage base. Reinforcing Steel is cut to size. The slab is to be laid in two halves. A laser level is used to make everything straight, but is a laser accurate enough for Wilf? I think not..!!! Cheers Wilf, the beer's on me.!!

More Groundwork

The new garage base is now prepared and ready for concrete. I have removed one window in the main garage and started bricking it up. This is the area where it will be attached to the main house,so my "expert" block work won't be seen.!!!

The building inspector gets her blue wellies dirty.!!!

Building plans are underway

After being let down buy a previous surveyor/architect, I now have a new guy on the case..!! He visited the site yesterday and measured up for the garage extension.
The drawings are finally on their way and the planning application can go in very soon. Some preliminary work can commence on the garage extension. A sewer man hole needs to be moved, and window spaces need to be bricked up.....watch this space.

Mostly flattened

The bulk of the rubble etc. has now been buried, and the topsoil has been added to the previously sunken garden area. The old footings have been left in to support the new concrete slab base for the new garage. The hardcore has arrived as you can see, 21 tons, and more is needed.!!!!!
